Structural Warranties FAQs

  • Is this your own offering or are you acting for others?

We are not offering a product for anyone else – we are fully approved and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (no. 622190) and you can find us listed on their register.

We, and our insurers, are both full members of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme which provides you with peace of mind and protection.

  • Who are your insurers?

Our insurance capacity is secured with a leading international insurer who has extensive knowledge and experience in the latent defect market and has been instrumental in providing capacity to some of the warranty providers.

  • How does your offering compare with your competitors?

We are offering a best-of-breed product, backed by our own technical and insurance expertise, which allows us to provide the protection and peace of mind to meet the individual needs of each client and project.

  • Do you have CML approval?

Our product is fully compliant with the requirements laid down in Part 2 of the Council of Mortgage Lenders handbook. We are in the process of obtaining full lender approval.

In the interim, our offering includes the requirements laid out under the CML Professional Consultants Certification, which is suitable to the majority of UK lenders to release the funds against any residential project.

  • You are listed in the CML directory as an associate; what does this mean?

The CML acts on behalf of 96% of the lending market. To be accepted as an associate required our business to be vetted and approved by its executive committee that is made up of the main six lenders together with other lending organisations.

As an associate, we are committed to supporting the trade association of its members and customers, working to ensure the protection and longevity of the industry and their acceptance of us indicates their confidence in our business.

You can find us by visiting cml.org.uk/cml/membership/directory.

  • Why do I need to be a member and how much will it cost?

Registration is free to anyone associated with the construction industry who join our membership scheme, either as a full or associate.

We do carry out a vetting of applicants. But this is a one-time simple exercise and is not applied to each individual development.

One of the main benefits of being part of our scheme is the freedom to choose when and how to use us with no additional fees and enables us to pre-risk assess and offer the best possible price.

  • Are there any other benefits to being a member?

There are many benefits to being either a full or associated member:

    • Easy access to guidance and support from our experts.
    • Our technical manual is designed to educate and improve industry standards.
    • Access to our regular CPD events throughout the country.
    • Easy access to our extensive complementary services.
  • Who will carry out the inspections?

Our inspections are carried out by our experts. These qualified individuals have been highly sought in the warranty market over the past few years. By focusing on our own offering, you will have the peace of mind that you are in the very best hands.

  • What can I expect from my warranty surveyor?

You will be appointed a dedicated surveyor, who will contact you and agree a schedule of inspections.

Together you will agree an inspection programme, totally bespoke to your project and individual needs.

You will receive an inspection agreement clearly outlining the responsibilities of both parties.

  • How can I get a quote?

In the first instance, we can offer premium indication by answering a few simple questions.

To offer a formal quotation, you just need to complete an application and membership registration form.
